Update: The position has been filled. Thanks for your interest. We received a ton of qualified candidates, and I can highly recommend them and forward resumes to any other publishers who are interested.
For those of you haven't heard, Blue Devil Games is working on a hard science, sci-fi setting for the d20 Modern and upcoming d20 Future rules.
In our effort to make the book as plausible as possible, I am looking to hire a "technical advisor." From time to time, I will e-mail the technical advisor a scientific question or theory. Generally, these will be simple (in scope), e.g., What is the impact on a solar system having two suns? Or I will run a hypothetical scenario by the technical advisor to see if it passes the smell test, e.g., Is it plausible that dinosaurs could independently evolve in a distant galaxy? I will need quick answers, but they need not be exhaustive--just enough information to keep us on the right track.
This person should preferably have a background in science. However, that's not essential to me, if the person is intelligent and capable of performing the necessary research to give me correct information. In other words, the job will be alot easier for a rocket scientist than a lawyer who just likes science fiction.
I am willing to pay a flat fee of $100, plus a Technical Advisor credit in the book, plus a free copy of the pdf and print version of the books. If, during the course of the project we find that I'm taking advantage of your wealth of knowledge, the figure could be negotiated upward appropriately. Frankly, I don't think that will be necessary.
We are knee-deep in the project as it is, so I need someone rather quickly. If you are interested, please e-mail me at my work e-mail address: jdj[at]floridacollections[dot]com with your scientific background or whatever else you think qualifies you for the position. I do NOT need a full CV/resume, though you're welcome to send me one if you have it handy and it's easier for you.
