Man, that was downright compassionate!

See, a number of years ago we had a bear that was scrounging around down in town. They chased it until it climbed up a power pole. Lacking any better ideas, they tranqed the bear and let it fall on the transformer on the pole. Then it finished falling to the ground. Bzzzt! Slam.

I'm not saying there is an easy way to get a bear down out of a tree or off a power pole. But it also doesn't take a genius to figure out that a bear above the transformer just might fall onto the transformer after it is drugged. Would it have been a tragedy to cut power? Would it have been all that difficult to put something on the ground below the bear?
