So has anyone ever player a Ghost? (or similar non-corporeal post-mortal character)

What did it involve
Exactly what kind of adventures can a Ghost have?
What are the limitations/advantages?
What are the dynamics of interacting with the Material and Ethereal worlds?

And please do tell me to take a look at White Wolf Book: The Tautology

heh, wasn't there a What's New on that? ;)

I think a gameworld where resurection was much harder could make for some fun campaigns with an underpowered but nigh indestructible party member helping bring back her own body...

(as for abilities, I'd work it out with the DM, possibly using one of the templates from SS, or maybe statting out the Swazey (sp?) character from Ghost - seems to me like a nice medium powered specter...)

Once had a NPC that was a spirit in a bottle, it was a copy from the War of Powers books by Robert Vardeman and Victor Milan. The spirit could pass knowledge to the players and had a couple of PSI powers. This was all 1e stuff but as I have re-read the books I am thinking about visiting the idea again.

Some of the things I would look at:

Mental skills and feats - how they can be used to effect other living creatures. Can a spirit bluff?

Special powers - say the dead was a cleric, does he lose the ablity to heal?

You might want to check out Ghostwalk, due out in June. Also, Savage Species has an Emancipated Spawn PrC for undead made by "Create Spawn", who have become freed due to the destruction of their creator.
