BESM d20/d20 Modern

Hello.

I've just ordered BESM d20, and I can't wait for it to get here. However, I understand it uses the PHB, and not d20 Modern.

Has anyone used BESM d20 w/ d20 Modern? If so, how did it go?

What is BESM?

Big Eyes Small Mouth, an anime RPG originallly based on Guardian of Order's tristat system.


BESM makes reference to both d20 modern and D&D, but has several quirks to its mechanics that make it difficult to adapt to "normal" d20 system games. For instance it instead of Armor or Nat. Armor bonus to AC, it gives Damage Reduction.

I haven't actually used BESM d20 yet, but it does have some point builds inside the book the basic d20 Modern classes.

Like Spycraft, BESM d20 is more of a variant d20 engine. The trick of course is trying to incorporate the use of Character Points into d20 Modern.

The alternative is grouping the BESM d20 Attributes into a variety of Talent trees and/or Feat trees.

Such tweaking is for advanced users only.

Here's a draft of a deconstruction and adaptation of d20 Modern's Starting Occupations to BESM d20 that I've been working on. I haven't decided if it will ultimately be a stand-alone document, or if it'll be part of a larger project, hence its draft status.
