Best Animorphs Around

Dragongirl

First Post
I have been interested in animorphs for a while now and wonder where some good ones are in D20 or home-brew sites.

Skaven I hear are good rat-men from Warhammer, what else?

OA has nezumi (also rat people) and Hengeyoki (shapeshifters - from human to 'animalistic' to animal form)

[edit - forgot Vanara - monkey people]

if you mean "humanoids with animalistic traits" the MM already has a couple of good ones -- gnolls and minotaurs being my two personal favorites...

i also really liked the goat-headed beastmen from Warhammer, especially the treatment they got in those two "Realms of Chaos" hardbacks from the early 90s.

if i were to homebrew them for D&D, i'd probably just give them the same stats as gnolls, but change them to monstrous humanoids and add some type of gore attack. mutations are optional. :p

the groundlings (badger-dwarf hybrids) from Monsters of Faerun were... interesting.

[edit]oh! and the MM2 has the tauric template -- now you too can crossbreed your favorite humanoid with your favorite wild beast! (of course, this template is for centaur-like creatures. perhaps a modification of it can be made for bipedal crossbreeds?

Yes, basically animals being made into humanoids. Gnolls and Minotaurs being the most famous. I would like to create a world of animorphic races and was looking for inspiration with other kinds.

Just recently someone put out something about a template for making anthropomorhic animals. It was for a race of such that had been created in his world as slaves for elves, or something like that. I'll have to rummage around here a bit...

Monsters of Faerun also had the 3e stats of the aarakroca (sp?) -- bird people.

i think if you sift through enough existing d20 materials, you'd be able to come up with quite a few.

the kappa from OA could be turtle people.
the abeil from MM2 are bee people.

...just throwin' 'em out as i remember them... :p

OA also has Tengu (crow people)

Creatures of Rokugan has Kenku (raven people - basically look the same as Tengu), and Ningyo (fish people - look much more like fish than merfolk)

[always spelling..]

Hey, Dragongirl; I was going to do the same thing with a world I was working on. :) I have some notes, if you'd like?

Me, I personally find Gnolls and the other 'anthro' races in the MM pretty ugly and clunky, and don't make for good PC races, for one thing.

But, there's a Lot of examples of Cat races, around, on several sites. Monte's got one for his homebrew, I think SKR has one, etc, etc. Mythic Races from FFG has several cat breed races, and some others; one that has beastmen (Their heads are animals).

check out the creature catalog for the following:
Anuchu
Caiveh
Crabman
Cynamolgus
Flind
Giff
Grippli
Kenku
Loxo
Tabaxi
