So, anybody gotten their players dancing? Have any of your pcs started dancing unexpectantly?

In our last session I was running "The Mask of Murruk" from Monkey God Games. The plot involves orks, druids, gaints, nobles, and the party is never quite sure who is on the level.

The way it played out, the party, elf heavy and lead by a dwarf, ended up marginally allied with the orks while trying simutaneouly and seperatly to infiltrate the forest area controled by the druids.

The party immediatly broke Rule #1, and sent their own druid into the psuso-maze/entangle protected forest to "get" a druid from the other faction. Then when a clearing "rotated" into view, all of the party except the 1/2 elf wizard decided to enter it to see if they could ride it though the mazed area. (Note, I added this feature to the adventure).

The main party encountered a treant. The druid's mission didn't go as planned, and she ened up running from a dire bear with 1 hp left (another added feature, the module just has a whimpy brown bear). The wizard stayed on the outskirts of the forest and watched the orks have various problems hacking into the forest and was somewhat disturbed when the shagbark hickories........and fought a random critter that came out of the woods.

The treant told the party to leave as the druids didn't want to be disturbed. The Dwarf was insistant on not leaving. The treant desided to persuade them with superior numbers and began animating OH MY GOD! and my players all stare at me with worried expressions as I reread the line in the MM 3 times to make sure I understand it right....yep 180 ft radius.....Very dense forest.....oh 300 trees. Treant and friends offers to walk them out of the woods. Stubborn dwarf, who is carrying 6 axes but doesn't have any in hand, refuses.

Roll for int.

Dwarf "I will not fight you"

Treant Grapples dwarf, who still refuses to act aggressively and does not resit. Dwarf now held in air by treant.

Human bard starts to play in anticipation of combat.

Elf Duskblade "Starts to dance, backflips into the air, handstands on the bard's shoulders, flips off with a twist and starts to slasa dance."

???!?!?!?!?

Roll tumble, Passes
Roll perform (dance), passes (untrained)

Bard, roll perform check. passes

Dwarf, in the air, treant, holding dwarf in the air, rest of party, and 300 trees, look at those two with absolute confusion. Everybody shifts gaze back to the dwarf. "thats...new"

Everybody watches the two play and dance for 2 more rounds with the dwarf asking the treant if it will take them to the druids.

Treant turns dwarf around holds him by hips.
Dwarf: Oh no, oh no, oh no.......(recalling the sounds of squeeling orcs who had encountered foilage off camera)
Performers continue,
party does not engage.

Trees enter clearing seperating all members of party.
performers continue
party does not engage.
Dwarf asks "are you gonna take us to the druids or dance?"

Trees grab all party members from behind by the hips.
No one resists.
performers continue.

Treant answers. "We'er going to dance"

Trees, holding the party, form a conga line and start dancing toward the edge of the forest, dwarf off the ground, but in the lead, with the treant actually "leading".

Druid and puma companion, with dire bear in hot pursuit, runs into the line. They hop in. The trees scoop them up.

The dire bear crashes though the underbrush, slides into the animated trees, and ends up in the line too.

A few rounds later, the dancing line of trees breaks the edge of the woods near the wizard. They dance 40 ft out of the woods, make a 90 degree turn, move 40 ft, turns 90 deg back towards the woods congaing right past the wizard.

The nearby orks all stop and stare in bewilderment.

As the trees pass the wizard, they drop the party members at his feet, except for the Duskblade, who they "spin off". He never stops dancing.

As the treant is about to reenter the woods, the dwarf tries to go after him shouting to be taken to the druids. The treant call back, "I think you have other problems".

Before the dwarf can respond, the next to last tree in line drops the direbear into the party.

The bard plays on. as combat starts with the not dancing direbear.

Anyone got a simular "song and dance" story?

And yes, all of this actually happened!

Wow. That's pretty surreal. :)

There's only one person in our group who isn't a swing dancer. It'd be really fun to get him and his dwarforged dancing at some point!
