We didn't take damage from the fire. The dwarven forge was huge and constructed completely of stone. That coupled with the forge having little to no flamamble items meant that the fire didn't spread. We did take subdual damage from the smoke, but took precautions to avoid that, and once we opened a hole that ended. The bodies we did take into account, we took positions outside of the chimney entry. The forge was rather huge and one large open room for the most part, with a 30' ceiling. After we piled some bodies we either A.) moved, or B.) took positions atop the bodies to gain the high ground advantage. Survival was a close thing, but most of the goblins and orcs didn't get a hit. You also have to remember they had to come through the chimney to reach us, and didn't come in mass droves. I took up the point position and when they charged I got an AoO, and generally dropped them before they could attack. I had a decently high AC too. Most of the others readied arrows for when they came down the chimney, damaging or killing them before they reached us. The trolls were hard... but first they had to jump down the chimney 30' taking falling damage. They then met some arrows, and then we tried desperately to take them down before they did massive damage. Ogres truthfully aren't all that challenging if you use tactics. Make them come to you and rain arrows as they come. We had a healer and two others with the healing path plus potions so we had plenty of healing options, that we easily exhausted. Almost forgot :D , we got around 4,000 xp. Enough to take use to the next level easy. Whether or not it is the correct amount, I don't know, however we were happy.
