best free on-line adventures?

Okay, NOT counting those available at WoTC [which are all very nice], what are the best online free adventures? I'm specifically interested in those written by fans, but if you know of any good ones by d20 publishers then list those too.

Please include a link and a short (or long) description. Thanks!

Well, Necromancer Games has a free adventure that won an ENnie for best free product: The Wizards Amulet

The site has two other free adventures--Feast of the Gobbler and Set's Daughters (meant to be a support module for Necropolis)

Here are two that played real well with a group of consiting of 10 to 13 year olds and their dads. We have played on and off for a few years.

Dreams are better than Reality ..... by Hal Greenburg. This is available at Thirdedition.net. Saving a village, memorable treasure, what else do you need.

The Baron's Daughter. (I dodn't know the author offhand). This is available at RPGarchive.com. You'll have to convert this from Ravenloft 2E and make your own maps, but it was worth the trouble. This involved some deception on the part of the protangonist, a werewolf the players were sent out to rescue. This module is talked about frequently.

Here are a couple that didn't play out so well.

Feast or Famine. by Jonathan McAnulty. I don't know if it is still available as it was posted on enworld's Midgard site some time ago. I believe the site is discontinued. At any rate, I had a hard time getting the players to take the hook and it didn't resolve well. That said, the final battle is still discussed; so it couldn't have been all bad.

A Winter Storm in Amn, By Erik Thornton. This one is available at RPGarchive.com. While placed in the FR, it was not difficult to alter the setting. The problem encountered with this module was that there was nothing particularly memorable about it. Slay the orcs and call it good. This story is not mentioned at all.

I hope this is helpful.

I think the two Erics/ENWorld contests (the first one general based on WotC map archives, the second one based on a high level horror adventure) had some great free adventures in them.

Unfortunately, the site does not seem to be hosting them anymore and you have to ask around to find copies.

I really like the mods on Dire Kobold. It's a pay site, but it's worth it IMHO. They do have a sample adventure you can look at. The best thing about the site is the ability to customize the adventure to meet your needs. Check them out!! www.direkobold.com.

I didn't see the word free in the subject until after I posted this. I hope it still helps!

*SHAMELESS PLUG*

Conveniently, at least one of the Eric Noah winners, the Burning Sage's Demesne, has been cleaned up, spiffed up, had the map done up in Campaign Cartographer format and inserted into the document, and then made available for free. :)

This is its home at my website, and you can get your own copy (this link is also at my site) from RPGNow.com by clicking right here.

Shades of Grey from Auran. Very free, very nice. The best quality (in terms of images, production values etc) free adv I've ever seen, packed with background info and so on. Superb plot, too.

Small Worlds and Exilesfrom Second World Simulations. Not typical, maybe not what you're working for, but free, pretty big and with an excellent free form structure.

I urge you to go get 'em both.
