I have to admit, I'm relatively new to RPGs (only 4-5 years, as opposed to some of you who can recall gaming in college. I, on the other hand, am just now gaming in college), but heres some of my choices: GURPS Discworld- Call me nuts, but I love Terry Pratchett, and this book turned me onto GURPS, which i now use for most of my "gritty" games. 3e Players Handbook- the first time I really bought a core rulebook, and so the first time that I really understood a set of rules. Quite possibly one of the greatest RPGs of all time. the very fact that d20 is the system I use for almost all my games is proof enough of the effect the 3e PHB had on me. Mutants and Masterminds- Before M&M, I never thought superhero roleplaying could duplicate the comic bok experience. Boy am I glad this book proved me wrong. Spycraft- This was the first non-fantasy d20 book I ever bought, and it really showed me the possibilities for d20, and it still holds up as an awesome book, even now that there are more d20 books then ever before. Arcana Unearthed- the only book to recapture my feeling of awe with the 3ePHB. An excelent example proving that you can have more core classes then those in the PHB.
