November 29th, 2008-Santa Rosa, CA: Big Finger Games is proud to announce that the "Mecha vs. Kaiju" campaign setting for the True20 role playing game will be available in game and hobby stores in February of 2009. Author Johnathan Wright is a lifelong fan of super-robot anime and kaiju-eiga (Japanese giant monster movies) and had long planned on creating an RPG based on both genres. When Green Ronin announced a setting design contest for its new True20 Adventure Role Playing Game, "Mecha vs. Kaiju" was an early favorite in the selection process. It was published as a sample setting in the first True20 rule book and has done brisk business as an online product.
Now MvK is available for order in softcover print format through Alliance Game Distributors and is solicited on page 19 of the Dec. 2008 issue of their Game Trade Magazine. Ask your local game shop to order a copy of “Mecha vs. Kaiju”. Also in February look for the first MvK rules supplements, "The Big Book of Kaiju" and “The Mecha Assault Force Technical Manual”, available in PDF format at RPGNow.com, DriveThruRPG.com, and other online retailers.
Born in nuclear fire, they stride across the face of the world, unstoppable! They are the Kaiju - giant monsters that have ravaged the nation of Japan for decades. There is only one force that can stand against these titans of destruction - the Mecha Assault Force! Driven by fearless young pilots, the giant robots of the M.A.F. stand ready to do battle against the monstrous might of the Kaiju! In this anime-inspired True20 setting, players take on the role of one of the heroes of Japan, while Narrators will find complete rules for creating their own monstrous Kaiju and an in-depth setting guide containing the secret history of Japan - all the inspiration you need to create your own battles in the relentless, never-ending battle of Mecha vs. Kaiju!
"Mecha vs. Kaiju" is a loving tribute to Japanese pop-culture icons, yet is open enough to create any variation of anime-inspired RPGs. Scheduled to ship in February 2009 from Big Finger Games. Find out more at Mecha vs Kaiju.
