Aha! :) Now, here is the response my DM sent me to the e-mail I sent him. Tell me Binky would not kick ass after making these changes, eh? With this DM, if he says its possible, then it’s actually more than possible. ;) Some background to help you understand what he is talking about… in this past Wednesday’s session, after fighting off the uber-werewolves (Binky really was completely useless in that fight, with no silver weapons), we came across a halfling necromancer, leading his “Army of Darkness” with his vampire Minotaur bodyguard at his side. After a lengthy discourse, the necromancer and his bodyguard joined with our party, bringing along some of his incorporeal minions (just what we needed – more uber-PCs to throw me off!) So, we started back off on our way. We shortly reached a town run by elves, but it was a trading town so many races were there (except humans, who are at war with the elves). While meeting up with our contact at a bar, the paladin realized that he had been robbed. We found the thief after some searching, and killed him while polymorph into a rat. The Minotaur vampire turned the gnome thief (although the DM refers to the thief as a halfling in this e-mail) into a vampire servant, and then commanded that he showed us his stash. Thus, the huge monetary “reward” I mentioned earlier in the thread. You notice that my DM has a cruel sense of humor? ;) And the “Elf book” referred to would be Quintessential Elf. ***** I agree with you. First the party has now a large amount of cash available. Second you are the only Elf in the party and as such are treated here as a citizen. So finally demanding that the party let you buy things is a good idea. If you feel like taking out parts of the party the theif/mage vampiric halfling would love to help you out. he has been commanded to not steal from the party but he can steal from pthers and give it to party members to frame them. He is very upset at being controlled and would gladly pay any price to have the minotaur eliminated to gain his freedom. since your an elf you can purchase a true strike mighty composite longbow which will give you a nice +20 to hit with arrows. Also you can puchase bane and dread arrows which give a sick bonus to damage (dread also causes a fort vs death and ignores crit immunity). for dread and bane arrows you must choose a creature type which it effects, but with arrows you can have an assortment rather cheaply. Susalian chainweave (an elven technic of making chain mail in the Warrior handbook) grants a DR 3/piercing prevnting 3 dmg from every non piercing attack combined with mithril chain shirt wouldn't be a bad idea. Slap on "sacred heart" from exalted deeds, heavy fortification and your rocking. Getting a dancing or animated sheild with a +5 enhancement bonus wouldn't be a bad idea. on the topic of animal followers, you are next to an elven woodland where dire bears are common so you can summon one to be your mount/friend/companion and what not. A dire does get upto 36 HD and huge in size sounds like a big fellow eh? And I am using the 3.5 rules for advancing you companion based on you ranger level so the bear would get bonuses. I hope this gives you a few good ideas plus the Elf book has some good things in it. If you want to exchange any unused feats you have for feats from there feel free.
