Somebody from Bioware voiced an opinion on the Mass Effect forums that was less than thrilled with the implied criticism. The blogger then acts with a "What's the big deal?" response.
Personally, given the amount of effort and attention to detail obviously put into games like Baldur's Gate, Knights of the Old Republic, and Mass Effect, I can understand why anybody from Bioware would be annoyed by some blogger implying that their games lack originality. I think the blogger is being disingenuous.
Having said that, I find the insight into the design process provided by Patrick Weekes of Bioware somewhat fascinating, and so this is worth reading if only for that.
