This has certainly taken care of those pesky invisible spellcasters.
While not an offencive tactic this has proved quite useful to us a few times in combat. It is unusual since it requires a cleric with a familiar (In my case achieved through the Mystic Wanderer PrC). Our DM had been throwing several invisible spellcasters at us that we were having problems tracking down. So what I came up with was casting Invisibility Purge on my bird familiar. Normally this is a Personal spell, but you can cast Personal spells on your familiar. It would then fly at 10 ft over the battlefield double moving until the enemy spellcaster showed up. This left my cleric free to do other things and whoever was closest to the spellcaster could then go after him. Additionaly if circumstances permitted the first or second round afterwards I would then cast silence on the familiar. The familiar can choose to fail its save so then I also have a fully mobile silence spell that can only be targeted at range (10 ft up) The Purging Silenced familiar would then follow the spellcaster around. The spellcaster can move and cast but this leaves him in the purge radius for the fighters to take him out or he can double move to get out of the radius but have no actions left to cast. This has certainly taken care of those pesky invisible spellcasters.
