Today Black Dagger Games will pull its book from production; The Wilds-There and Back because it contains elements of roleplaying terrorism. Though we could not possibly forsee the attacks on London, and the elements are based on a 15th century way of thinking about terrorism, we feel strongly enough to pull the book from production for a couple of weeks to delete containing elements of terrorism. Particulary, the skill of terrorism, some feats and other paragraphs. [S]I'm not advocating that other game companies do the same, its just that we were to sale the book at rpgnow.com today and we didn't want to be equated with what happened today in London by per chance of the material.[/S] That statement is a slight error, It should of said, I'm not advocating that other game companies do the same, its just that were were to submit the book The Wilds-There and Back to rpgnow.com and while I'm fairly sure it will pass the submission test, we didn't want the book to be equated with what happened today in London by per chance of the material. I did not mean to infringe on rpgnow.com by suggesting that they aligned with us on this matter that they were already selling the book. My apologies for that statement if any gamer or rpg took it that way. I being the Ceo do not want to hear from kids of how they used the terrorism skill to slay a whole village and get a satisfaction of it. You know what I'm talking about. The attacks on London are bad enough without someone crazy enough to try these skills in real life. Again, our skill is based on 15th century tactics, and few feats went along with the terrorism skill. I know my product is safe and no way equates to what happened to London today. But I feel very strongly about doing this and restructuring the book with out said terrorism elements. As a game designer, you must balance in what you will put in there and what you won't and how that affect kids. (which the material has always been suitable for 8 year olds and up). I really really doubt that someone would be able to glean any facts from the skill and feats to make a terrorist. What are you going to learn? How to harrass the 15th century village people into them giving up their treasure? The world is not the safe place it was 20 years ago, and I would rather tread on the side of safety then error on the side of stupidity because someone actually tried to apply the skill and feats in real life. Especially in the wake of what has happened in London, we feel it is better to at least for now delete this section. We may make it available as cutting room floor material after this has all gone away. Yes, we know we could of simply pulled the material from the book, restructured it and not said a word. But we feel for those fans, playtesters that actually got to see some of the "element terrorism" material this would be unfair and unjust to the gaming industry. My apologies to the fans for having to pull the books from production for a short awhile and for having to pull this material from the book. As a timeline, the book should be ready to sale to rpgnow.com in two weeks.
