Blackmoor Lisence Ends

This was just announced on the gmail group today:

Blackmoor licensing is looking like it's going to end as Wizards of
the Coast does not appear inclined to renew the license come the
beginning of the year.

The "Age of the Wolf" products which were announced for this year will also not be published.

I am looking forward to the living campaign, even if it's done via the 'contingency plan' the 'New Lands'. It was smart of them to have a plan for this.

Back in the day, I played in a game that went through some of the Blackmoor modules with the Mentzer D&D box sets.

Does WotC own the Blackmoor IP completely, or does Dave Arneson's estate still partially (or fully) own it?

Thanks Havard. Do you have a blog post planned (or already written) which summarizes the current status of Blackmoor IP ownership?---I was surprised to see that Dustin Clingman owns some of the BM IP vs. DA's estate.

Based on the fact that Dave had been distributing Blackmoor, OD&D Supplement 2, from his web site for years, as well as his original maps, I figured that he owned those, and by extension all of the content in the DA series of modules from '80s too; but perhaps that was too optimistic??

I have no idea what the status of the Blackmoor IP ownership is, but I know I'd like to see Blackmoor materials for OD&D and AD&D (or S&W/OSRIC).

I still have my old '70s Blackmoor supplements in a box somewhere... I wonder what the 4e version looks like? I have the 3e core book.
