Speculating on the benefits/effects of Blink here--what happens if a blinking character attacks an incorporeal creature (Assume a +1 weapon). This is my thought--am I missing anything? 1. Blinking character makes the attack roll--since he's trying to hit an incorporeal creature, he'll want to do it while ethereal. 2. Roll 20% miss chance from blink. 21+ means the blow lands 1-20 means the character goes corporeal before it lands. 3. If the character goes corporeal before the blow lands, there's still a chance of a magic weapon hitting. Roll 50% miss chance for attacking an incorporeal creature with a magic (non-ghost touch) weapon from the material plane. If the Blinking character is using a force effect or ghost touch weapon, there is no miss chance at all since he's either etheral (all attacks work normally) or material (force effects extend to the ethereal). So far, so good but what about when the incorporeal creature attacks back? Since it can see ethereal creatures, there would only be a 20% miss chance right? But would there be a chance for non-force armor to effect the incorporeal touch attack. The reason only force armor (and ghost touch armor) normally effects incorporeal touch attacks is because only force effects extend to the ethereal plane. But when the character is ethereal, any non-force armor he's wearing would be ethereal as well. So, it seems like on the incorporeal creature's regular attack, the 80% hit chance should correspond to making a regular attack rather than an incorporeal touch attack.
