Very Cool

Picked this up last night on RPGNow. I actually don't play or even own D20 Modern (I'm in two "regular" D&D campaigns right now) but was more interested in this book from a setting standpoint.

Funny, I'm actually working on a novel that I started back in August of 1999 about very similar concepts (different secret societies and religions working against each other to recover ancient artifacts and relics). I never actually wrote it as I spent most of my time researching the different socieites. Every time I came across one, it expanded out into two or three more that I'd never heard of.

Anyway, a very cool book. I'm wondering where your inspiration came from?

Sam, thanks for the kind words! :)

The inspiration of the book came from a Comparative Religions/Drama Professor I had in college. He got me interested in both the Elusinian Mysteries and the Gnostic religion, and as I started writing Blood and Relics I began thinking back on those conversations more and more, and added in some Julian Jaynes theory, a bunch of my bible study, and hefty dashes of pulp adventure and modern conspiracy theories into the mix for flavor!

So there isnt one source, it was mostly my own experiences and reading, and then adding dashes of this and that to make it a more interesting game. :)

Again Sam, thanks for the nod :)

Just picked up Blood and Relics, Chuck. Really nice work. I liked the history and the writeups of the organizations. I also enjoyed the introductory passages for the advanced classes; the whole thing is just well-written.

Thanks a lot Steve! :)

Having written a product that sees use in my Vigilance campaign all the time (Bodies and Souls) that means a LOT to me :)

I feel all warm and fuzzy now :)
