I found some threads on this from a year ago when 4e first came out, and none of them seemed to have solid conclusions. There were some CustServ responses saying that it would be addressed in an upcoming FAQ... but that was a year ago, and there's still nothing in the FAQ.
Has there been any official word or consensus on how Blood Pulse and Bolstering Blood (from the blood mage paragon path) work?
Here's an example that I think addresses all of the questions:
A blood mage uses bolstering blood to deal a severe wound to himself (11 damage) and casts Blood Pulse, hitting a monster. The monster takes 2d6 + Int + 3 (implement) + 11 (bolstering blood) damage. Blood Pulse has the additional effect that "until the end of your next turn the target takes 1d6 damage for every square it leaves."
The blood mage then spends an action point to cast Thunderwave, hitting the same monster and pushing it 4 squares past his tiefling ally, who has a readied action to attack the monster when it gets within melee range. This readied action triggers after two squares of the monster's forced movement.
How much damage does the monster take from the forced movement?
A) 4d6
B) 4d6 + 3 (implement)
C) 4d6 + 3 (implement) + 11 (bolstering blood)
D) (1d6 + 3) 4 times
E) (1d6 + 3 + 11) 4 times
For B or C... how much damage has the monster taken after two squares of movement? We need to know that, because we need to know if the monster is bloodied when the tiefling attacks it to know if the tiefling gets its racial +1 to the attack roll.
