Blood Ties - a supernatural show on Lifetime...

Heard about it from the Bureau 13 mailing list. Apparently it's sorta like that Dresden Files show, except the main character is a woman, is just an ex-cop (not whatever he is, exactly) working as a PI, and her partner is a vampire, not a ghost. But apparently they solve supernatural crime problems.

Apparently airs on Sunday night, so I missed the first episode, so I have no idea if it's good. But just thought I'd mention it.

I watched the two-hour pilot on Sunday and I thought it was pretty good (nowhere as sexy or violent as Blade The Series was). The series is based on The Blood Books novels by Tanya Huff. Christina Cox plays Vicki Nelson, a cop-turned-private investigator that witnesses a murder that she believes to be the work of a serial killer. Her investigation leads her to a vampire named Henry (Kyle Schmid), who's an illegitimate son of Henry VIII. He becomes her partner both professionally and romantically. Of course, that doesn't sit well with Vicki's ex (Dylan Neal), who's also working the case.

Saw commercials for this during "Special Unit 2" on Sci-fi and it does look decent. But it's weird, it says "Check local listings" for when it's one. Since it's a cable channel, isn't it on at the same time for everyone? That struck me as odd.

I just think it's interesting that Spike, the Guy cable channel, had a vampire series, now Lifetime, the Chick Channel, has one two. Wonder if this one will fair any better than Blade.

Blade the TV show was probably more suited for Lifetime to begin with. It was mostly about that vampire chick, not Blade, and when Blade fought, he fought like a , er, well, an actor who has never been in a fight before in his life.
