Bloodlines - D20 Version (I received this as a reviewers copy from Crothian) I printed out the screen copy so that I could get the full force of the module and the side bars and art. Review Follows: (all will be rated 1-5) Art: The art is slightly cartoony and has a feel of a Scooby-Doo mystery or a few years old computer RPG almost. While not my personal favorite style it holds up well. The maps and related items in the handouts however are beautiful and well drawn. I did find it odd that on the town map (like a resaurant placemat type map) ther were a lot of areas that seemed to hold multiple businesses. The Cover art is well Drawn and is pleasant as well. Grade - 4 Storyline: The module is VERY linear and railroady, but it has a feel like a good television episode of Twilight Zone or X-files. You can see the story playing out that way, but no story survives contact with the players. I can forsee very few groups getting through this in the order and style recomended. I like the twists but there are some parts where the module needs to offer an alternative solution...Such as the Blackwell homestead section. Grade - 3.5 Length: This is not a single night module, I can see this taking 2-3 sessions for all the areas that the players can procrastinate about what they are doing. Yes you can state that time passes and up the suspense, but that might just feel false. I think it is however a great value for the price of $10. Even the print version is a good value. Grade - 4 Player Handouts: Amazing, these are the main part of the book for me. I remember as a DM creating similar hand outs to start campaigns and I feel that this has captured the feel and look of realistic items that the characters would have. Grade - 5 Formatting: Easy on the eyes, well written and very few errors that I could locate. However I think there may have been a bit too much fiction in the module itself. Good for an overview, but a bit wordy. Reads like a young adult horror novel. Grade - 4 Critical Hits: The Maps and the Handouts Critical Miss: The periods of the module where no matter what the characters do they lose that scene. Overall Score - 4.1 (4 Stars)
