BLUE DEVIL GAMES ASSIGNS AEvolutions RIGHTS TO FIERY DRAGON

Monte Cook’s Arcana Evolved Material Finds New Home with Leading 3d-Party Publisher

April 24, 2007 - PLANTATION, FL: Blue Devil Games and Fiery Dragon Productions, Inc. are pleased to announce the next step in AEvolutions. Effective immediately, all of the rights to the AEvolutions product line have been assigned from Blue Devil Games to Fiery Dragon. The AEvolutions line features products in support of Monte Cook’s Arcana Evolved and includes existing products and products that were in development at the time of the assignment: Akashic Nodes: The Home of Memory, Tell It To My Axe!, Dark Houses, Faces of Serran, and Dragon Hunters. This assignment includes a transfer of existing product stock, transfer of the right to sell pdf versions of the products, transfer of existing freelancer contracts, and transfer of all related copyrights including the rights to both writing and art.

As part of a concerted effort to narrow the focus of Blue Devil Games, Justin D. Jacobson contacted Fiery Dragon, well known for their high-quality role-playing game products and a leading third-party publisher of AE material. With this agreement, Blue Devil Games has found a good home for these top-notch products and has freed up time and resources to focus on core products, including the ENnie-nominated sci-fi setting Dawning Star and the upcoming Bullseye system.

Already well known for their AE counter collections, Battlebox, and adventures, Fiery Dragon has greatly expanded their already impressive array of AE products. This agreement ensures AE fans will continue to have a wealth of material for their games for quite some time written by members of the Keepers of the Oath, an enclave of AE scholars. Fiery Dragon will honor all subscriptions to Faces of Serran and continue producing the ongoing line of pdfs featuring colorful NPCs and new rules by Bill “Varianor” Collins and art by Geoff “Manifold” Nelson. Fiery Dragon will release additional entries in the Dark Houses line, featuring detailed locations of no small dread such as the Living Airship manned by Vallorians, written by Soren “Siobharek” Thustrup. Fiery Dragon will also publish Dragon Hunters a new supplement focusing on the mythical beasts and those who oppose them, written by Michael Trice and Derek Kupper and featuring cover art by Jeremy Mohler. Fiery Dragon is the official sponsor of the Iron Heroes and AE fan sites.

Retailers and distributors can contact Impressions Advertising & marketing to obtain stock of these products. PDF versions of the products will be sold through all on-line vendors where Fiery Dragon products can currently be found. As of the date of transfer, AEvolutions products will no longer be available for sale on Indie Press Revolution. The only product released by Blue Devil Games under the AEvolutions banner not covered by the agreement is Witch Stones, Blue Devil Game’s unique rpg-boardgame hybrid.

This is, perhaps, the single most detailed and informative press release I have ever seen in my life. Color me impressed.

And a fan. :D

I hope that Fiery Dragon can turn out some stellar work; they've got the history, but it's a surprise to see them return to d20 work, which I thought they were largely getting out of.

I, for one, welcome our new Fiery Overlords.

Justin was a great publisher to work with, but so far, FDP has been great as well!

And people say there are no good lawyers - it's just that the lawyers have to also be gamers. Then you're okay. ;)

More from Fiery Dragon

If you go to p. 2 on this thread over at Monte's boards, you'll find out what FDP has to say. To sum up:

They're BUSY with work, kids, and all the other stuff that tries to prove that even geeks get a life.
They've been EXTREMELY BUSY with Adam Windsor's take-over of Iron Heroes, and they're publishing new IH pdfs next week.
Counter Strike takes up quite a lot of the time they don't have, but it's still their bread and butter (crumbs of bread and drops of butter, but still)
But they've got a lot of AE products lined up which will be announced as soon as we can get them sorted out.

My name (Soren) is mentioned a few times in their message. In the unlikely event that anyone notices, that will be explained soon, as well.

Dude, you spelled your name without crossing out the "o"! Inconceivable!
