[BoED Broken!] Do these two spells really cancel out?

In the Book of Exalted Deeds, the spell End To Strife is listed as a Enchantment [Mind Affecting] spell. The spell Sublime Revelry (also in BoED) states that it makes you immune to Mind-affecting spells (as well as granting you 1/2 damage from all physical attacks). Also, the spell Mind-Blank makes you immune to Mind-affecting spells, and thus End To Strife, a 9th level priest spell.

So, in other words, my 20th level cleric could cast Sublime Revelry on herself and companions, walk onto the battlefield, cast End to Strife and watch as my party slaughters the BBEG and minions (as the PCs are now immune to it).

Is it just me, or is that totally broken?!?!?!

Am I interpreting this wrong? How would you handle this as a DM?

Yes, that is a neat little trick. However, at this level your enemies could easily exit the area of your spell, via Teleport or some such. Just keep in mind that all affected creatures know that something bad will happen to them if they attack.

Oh, and you also have to penetrate SR.

SR isn't that difficult to get past at the level we are at in the game I am playing in right now - especially since I have Spell Penetration and Greater Spell Penetration.

It just seemed kinda wrong, considering the point of the spell End Of Strife.

I actually went to my DM and told him that he may want to house-rule something on this, as although I would prefer to use the spell in the spirit intended, if I thought of it, so can someone else.

I just am having a hard time believing that WOTC, who revised several of the spells in the PHB for 3.5 so as not to be "broken", would turn right around and publish another "broken" book.

The obvious fix (house rule) is that the spell restricts those affected from attacking other who are affected. If you manage to avoid the spell through Mind Blank or suchlike, others can attack you freely too.

The REALLY obvious fix is that's the least Exalted thing I've ever heard. No way you'd be able to cast it if you even INTENDED to do that. If you cast the spell with that intention, it would just fizzle. That's how I'd rule it. It's "End to Strife", not "See Your Foes Driven Helplessly Before You".

LOL, don't you mean: It's "End to Strife", not "Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of their women."

But I think this is the best fix, in staying with the spirit of the spell.

My DM just ended up saying "Hey... this is a priest spell... thus, the god granting it judges who it works on." A stance I personally applauded, but caused problems with other players because "by the book..."

That would cause problems with me too. That's opening the doors for all divine spells to breach SR, saves, immunities and whatnot just becuase the deity doesn't like them. Probably won't ever happen, but I would rather the doors not be allowed to go to that place.

But would the deity allow a spell designed to stop battles be used instead as "Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of their women" (as gfunk put it ;) )?

As the only cleric in the party currently, the game I am in doesn't really have the problem, yet, because I agree with the comment that the particular combo is not "Exalted" and I refuse to use it in that manner.

However, I am attempting to work with the DM to iron out something that makes sense for it, for future reference.... And because I tend to cast Sublime Revelry before/first round of a big battle (just because it is a handy spell) and it would be useful to have a ruling on what will happen if I later have to cast End To Strife because the PCs are getting their (censored) kicked.... :) Like last game session... :D
