Although I have to say the word (and subject) erotic interests me a lot more than the word (and subject) romance.  I think the word romance would turn a lot of people off, although it might make the people who think sex has no place in gaming more open to the idea of inter character intimate relationships in game. When I think of the word romace I admit I tend to think of those nauseating soap opera type cheesy novels with Fabio on the cover dressed as a pirate. Or a horribly dull romantic comedy that my mom would probably enjoy. Now, I know I'm going to take some heat for this but I think the word "romance" could perhaps turn off some of the male RPG players the authors were targeting. Romance tends to be marketed towards women.When I think of the word erotic I think raw, passion, emotion, physical, exciting. Erotica on the other hand is usually marketed towards both genders pretty much equally. There are a lot of books of erotica written by and marketed towards women, and many women consider erotica to be a valid and interesting genre.But of course, as we know, in real life, the erotica and romance are often connected. Then there are those confused people who think erotica = porn. I don't know what I can say about that , other than I strongly disagree. Erotica is almost always tasteful. Porn is usually just done for shock value. The line between the two I guess is a matter of personal opinion.Interesting poll & thought provoking question...</blockquote>
