The lift itself is locked, so Osnald gives it a look. Tumblers click and we see inside the massive metal box. His breath catches. Trevor leans in and sees a horrific cadaverous figure with a fiery skeleton inside its ribcage, which cracks open like a devouring maw. It reaches out with limbs lined with rows of gnashing teeth. He unleashes the Aquiline Heart, which does not echo inside the lift. It reaches out with awful energy, but Fafnir's death ward spell foils whatever it attempted. With hunter's mark and favored foe in my mind, I step before the lift door and fire two arrows with the aid of Fafnir's War God's Blessing. Ribs crack as the shafts crunch into its demonic body. It reaches with unholy energy and I feel myself slipping out of my body. I have the ugly sensation of being pulled into the creature itself, into a hellish cavity of pain and suffering. I hear my body collapse. My friends will tell me later that they saw something leave and drift across the hall. With no small amount of terror, I wonder if I am inside the rib cage. I feel itchy and burnt, and I can't breathe but I also don't need to. Osnald sends four magic missiles at the creature. Viggo mind whips it, then grabs my chain shirt and hauls my body out of the way. Running around the corner, Fafnir sees Trevor's whip wrapped around the creature, and feels he sees me trapped inside. "You motherfucker, give her back!" Einherjar falls upon its bony skull, and the monster crumples with a hiss. He reaches forward and rips at the rib cage as if to haul me out of it. We also find a chain fragment of binding, a blackened iron link similar to the chains in the chapel. Viggo finds some goo in its abdomen that he is excited to experiment with. A half-digested note is also found: ... transfer complete... subject unstable... Griiat insists. Griiat is the inquisitor who cursed Lord Gorquith. Trevor spits. [HEADING=2]In Plane Sight[/HEADING] We move into the metal lift and place our backs to the wall. Trevor manipulates the lever, and the lift lurches upward with a shriek of giant chains. When we rumble to a halt we can see machinery to the side which runs the lift, and a door. We now have a sensation of being weightless. Viggo feels we have entered a different plane.
