Book cover ink removal?

I'm not sure if it's possible but I thought someone here might have an answer.

I have a few old modules and splatbooks from the late 80s and early 90s that I picked up secondhand. Someone X'ed out the sku / barcode on the back with a marker. I'd like to remove the ink if possible without damaging the books. They're your standard glossy covers. Some are the flimsy covers typical of thicker books with spines that are glue bound. Some are the stiffer covers typical of thinner books with staple-bound covers.

Any ideas on removing the ink?

There might be something with tracing over it with a dry erase marker. It might just be fore permanent marker on a dry erase board. I also wonder if a Mr Clean sponge will work- they work on all sorts of stuff.

Thanks. I happen to have some of those. It worked great. Like 99% of the ink came off. Only a slight discoloration remains in a few tiny spots. Cheers.
