I'd change it so that it intercepts the are effect as it manifests; Any time an area effect is centered withing X (say 3, +1 per tier) squares of the valkyrie, the center point is moved to her space and allies in the effect gain a +4 bonus to defenses. I wouldn't worry about this affecting different power differently; it is a supernatural effect and such judgments by the DM are very much against the spirit of 4e.I liked the powers, but I only browsed the 1st level ones.</blockquote>
