Book of Eldritch Might II ROCKS!

I received my print copy of Book of Eldritch Might II in the mail yesterday, and I love it. It's great. I'm thinking of recreating my bard/sorcerer character using the rules in it. Monte's version of a bard is more in line with my vision of a charismatic spellsinger than the WoTC version. And I like Monte's version of the sorcerer as well -- it makes more sense given the premise of the class.

I know this product has been available for awhile as a pdf, but I don't do pdf. So whoever is responsible for making the print version of this product available, let me say thanks.

I only skimmed through it yet, but what I've seen is mostly good. :)

I'm not sure if I understand the point of Soul Magic (other than the imperative version) for a spellcaster, though. And I've seen a few errors, mostly in the names of spell schools. (I'm pretty sure that I've seen an Alteration rather than a Transmutation - also I think that there are instances of Enchantment spells without subschools and an Invocation. But then again, I've also skimmed through the Kalamar Player's Guide, which has similar problems, so I might have mixed it up.)

But no really big problems, yet. :)

They are BOTH way too narrow of a concept to hang a core class around, IMO. I would have like to seen some rules that broaden the bard out to more than a celtic spellsinger. As it is, monte just hoes the same row.

I don't think so. The premise of the class is someone touched with innate magical gifts. Where does that concept imply exclusion of non-combat oriented spells? It's like Monte forgets that there are non-adventuring sorcerers out there.

That said, I did like the expanded skill list.

Some of the spells are really bad though. eg a third level spell that gives a charged item unlimited charges: try that with a ring of wishes!

Geoff.

Having reread the book a bit, I can say that it wouldn't work. It works only on items with spells of no higher than 4th level. So, no unlimited wishes for you. :) ;)
