Book of Races II still Oct?

Joe is an eagle-eyed observer, I see :) Our original schedule was for October, but life has a funny way of delaying things...

Our production of RoE II had to be pushed back a couple of weeks for a number of reasons, so we're looking at a mid-November release now. The book is currently being edited and then we will add the finishing touches. All the artwork is done, as well as the playtesting, so we're just polishing the presentation at this point. Shouldn't be long, though :)

RoE II features does more exotic races than RoE I, to be sure. Here's a taste to whet your appetite: included are

* four flying races (including a sub-race of elf, bird-like humanoids, flying feathered serpent folk, and a fey race)

* a burrowing race

* a race of tiny extra-dimensional immortal creatures (one of my faves)

* a subterranean flat-bodied slave race (they're aberrations!)

* a race of tiny assassins

* mystic desert dwellers

* a race composed of electro-magnetic energy

* gnome-like centaurs

* a type of genie-kin

This does not count the free races on our site (one is there already, the krohlvar - the second is forthcoming).

Races of Evernor (Part III) is still on track for January '03. It will feature more "exotic" races yet.

Cheers!

Will this one continue to build up the relations of the original races with the new ones and hint at the future ones? For instance, you mention a desert dwelling race. Will they have ties with the short lived elves of that desert?

Yes, there will be references to previous and future races in RoE II (AFAIK). All the races are interconnected to some degree, since they were all written at approximately the same time.

For example, the desert races in RoE II (there are actually 2 of them), have frequent interactions with the cabarans from RoE I, the flying serpent race from RoE II is genetically linked to another non-flying race of snake men in RoE III (who are *excellent* villains, BTW), and so forth. Some are also tied to more "traditional" races and monsters, such as the underground slave race (they are slaves of the mind flayers).

Hope that helps. I'll be happy to answer any other questions, too.

Cheers!
Ian
