Re: Re: Boosting saves to prevent permanent level drain? Honestly, as a DM I think I wouldn't let it work even if they could estimate the exact time. If you have a Cloak of Resistance, I'll let you have the bonus if you wear it for most of those 24 hours, and I might require more than 12 hours. Is it so important for you all to "get the precise instant" where the negative level become permanent level loss, or does it even make sense they do, all of a sudden? I don't know how you play this game, but we don't treat durations of 24 hours as really 24hrs + 0min + 0sec like "hey, come on, wear my cloak of resistance, in 5 seconds you're making yesterday's drain save". Every single time we had played a situation when there was a dealine in terms of days, or many hours, we either had the chance to find a help quite before the deadline or we didn't and amen. Yes, it makes a nice climax to save yourself at the last second, but frankly in this situation we don't really consider that all of a sudden you lose 6 levels (apart the fact that if you want to be precise, you should remember how many rounds away from each other the negative levels were inflicted!), it doesn't make sense from the point of view of the characters. If you take a medicine to help you evacuate "in 30 minutes", do you go out thinking it's fine if you can be back home after 29 min and a half? :)
