Boots of Landing (XPH) = Untripable???

"The boots allow the wearer to recover instantly from a fall and can absorb some damage (2 dice worth) from falling once per day. The wearer lands on her feet no matter how far she falls."

So, does this mean that if she is tripped she instantly lands back on her feet therefore negating the trip attack and avoiding becoming prone?

That's one interpretation, and it has supporters. (Same as that aspect of the catfall power.)

But it's not 100% clear that being tripped = "falling", since there's never any falling damage. :)

I think it depends on how you relate the first and the second sentences together. For example, does this mean that the wearer only assuredly lands on their feet if the use the once a day power or does this mean for every fall?

Another hypothetical that may help you decide how to ajudicate is this. If a Collosal iron Golem grabs your charater by the legs and tries to smash them prone on the ground, do they (a) succeed, (b) lose their grip and the character lands on their feet, or (c) fail to connect with the ground due to repulsion between your character and the floor? (Note: this assumes that there is a "catch and smash" mechanic in DnD.)
