Message: <blockquote data-quote="The Souljourner" data-source="post: 485500" data-attributes="member: 1622">Making custom items is very dicey.  The rules aren't perfect.  Someone once said you could make a continual haste item for like 18,000, but obviously that kind of item should be way way more expensive than that.   The problem is that a standard set of rules really can't cover every circumstance.  The writers and testers even admitted that some of the costs of the item in the DMG were fudged some to make them more balanced.  So, here's the deal - if you wanted to make a belt of levitation, I'd certainly let you, however, I'd look at what else is out there with a similar ability, and put its cost relative to that one.  So in this case, I'd say the DM should make you pay the cost of boots of levitation, but since you're making it yourself, you get to make it a belt instead.-Nate aka The Souljourner</blockquote>
