[QUOTE="Crothian, post: 343572, member: 232"] From the book “History of Caladonia” by Blyden Flynn Throughout the 700 years of Caladonia nothing has been as steadfast consistent as the Border Legions under the rule of Battle Lord Dokken. The original Battle Lord Dokken was the personal bodyguard of King Kalas the first. Once the lands that are now Cladadonia were conquered, Battle Lord Dokken was assigned to guard the hostile border with Trogen. Trogen was an Orc Empire and was constantly harassing the Caladonians. However, in the 450 years that a Battle Lord Dokken was assigned to that border with his Border Legions, only once did the Trogens have a successful invasion. That invasion of course lead to the demise and complete conquering of Trogen. Now, Battle Lord Dokken is assigned to the southern Border of Andevar and Tarkin. The countries might be different, the political climate might have changed, but the Border Legions serious commitment to stopping any hostilities has never been stronger. The training of the Border Legions is one of the things that sets them apart from anyone else. They are trained to work together and fight as a unit. They are also trained to be able to notice the earliest signs of trouble. They are also trained in learning the history and traditions of the Border Legions. I was able to actually watch for a day the training of new recruits. It started out with the waking before dawn and going on a five mile run through wild territory. Then they were brought together for breakfast. After that they were taken to weapon training. They have special magical training weapons that will not inflict deadly wounds, but in all other ways act like the actual weapon. This allows them to fight all out and hold nothing back while training. Even with the magical weapons, injuries do occur. They have a few clerics on hand at all time just in case. After about five hours of weapon training it is a little past mid day. They again are taken out on a very long march. They are expected to carry very heavy packs over this 20 miles walk. After that they are given a late lunch and then were taken inside to learn about the Border Legion and to hear of the expectations that were expected of them. After that they were taken around the fort we were at and they become familiar with the surrounding lands and how to best defend it. Border Legion Most nations have a hostile border that needs to be guarded by the very best. These men have to train long hours and endure being at alert status for hours at a time. When in combat they must be able to hold the enemy at bay until reinforcements arrive. They are trained at working together. These are the men and women at Harkonen under the leadership of Battle Lord Dokken. They are the first line of defense on the most volatile border Caladonia has. They have a long line of history and it is very important to them. They were the first official armed force that Caladonia has. They were in charge of defending the Troggen border before Caladonia was officially a country. The Dokken family has always been in charge of the Border Legions.
