Lets go with the obvious first - are you offering compensation besides the warm glow of seeing work in print. :D (hey, someone had to ask)

second, this may be in the disclosure form, but what is the ownership of either the full short stories, the prelimenary plotlines or the samples? Is this work for hire?

Fun idea, kind of a Theives World flavor to it.

Writers

Hi.

In addition to seeing your work in print, we will be paying the winners 2 cents per word and giving them a copy of the book upon its release in August.

All short stories will become the property of Bottled Imp Games only on acceptance for the anthology.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to email us at Bottled Imp Games

Kind regards

Just to comment, you may be discouraging 'top tier' work with this. I know work for hire is the default for gaming materials, but fiction is (AFAIK) done to a different default. Personally, if I came up with a really good story I would be hesistant to use it for this contest, for fear I couldn't expand it later. (Its possible for a musician to be charged with plagurizing himself when his previous work is owned by a former band, I don't know if that sort of thing has come up in writing.)

Sorry for any paranioa, but I just thought I'd throw that out there. I may be misinterpreting the amount of ownership implied in your statement.

This is our unique setting with our own vampires. You couldn't write a story involving those elements anywhere else. You certainly couldn't expand it - unless we asked you to *wink*.

This is just a fun competition to celebrate our first release.

Competition's Open to Everyone

Are foreign writers with bad english skills allowed?

Of course!

We have great editors here at the Imp. Of course good grammar is very important, but that won't stand in the way of a great story.

Just to make sure, will this be a print product or a PDF? Also, will it be mainly distributed through the hobby trade or also through the book trade?

Gracias in advance and this sounds like an interesting project-- blending pure fiction with game elements. Hope it works out well.

Print

Hi Steve.

All our products are print copies :)

It is definitely being distributed through the hobby trade in the States, and by hobby and book trade in the UK.

Will have more updates on that in the near future.
