bounty hunter campaign idea

A little alternate to you campaign would be the Bounty Hunters are NPC's run by you and the Party, your players, encounters the prince having no idea who he is resulting in combat between the party and NPC's trying to defend/escort the prince wherever...

Also, let's not forget the possibility of neighboring countries spies learn of the Princes flight and then the party/Bounty Hunters would have to face said countries NPC's hoping to abduct the prince for ransom or etcetera.

Wow, I hadn't even heard of some of those spells. The Silence spell sounds super convenient since I was thinking you'd have to subdue him and gag him to prevent him from spell casting, or even put him in anti-magic handcuffs. I guess with using pure magic you wouldn't have any need for items like tanglefoot bags, handcuffs, or gags to capture someone.

Thanks for the advice, Herobizkit! :)

On the note of "I want him returned alive!" you could do the following:

Simply use a non-lethal drug to subdue the Prince... slip into his wine or meal when you find him!
Have a party member or NPC seduce the prince away from prying eyes and strike dealing non-lethal damage.
Blow dart gun tube with the dart laced with a fast acting non-lethal drug/poison.

And why did the Prince run away? Here's a few snippets to run with if you want too...

Having been confined to the palace since birth the prince leaves to see the world without an entourage of guards and servants in the way.
The Prince fell in love with a servant girl of the palace or minor nobles daughter and ran away to meet them and elope against the king's wishes.
He ran away to escape an arranged marriage.

Those are some very intriguing ideas to spice up the story; I think I like the Prince trying to elope the best! Also, slipping a sleeping drug into his wine would be a perfect way to catch him unaware!

Thanks, AnimeSniper! :)

Glad to help and sometimes the little things add to the story...

I remember one campaign the DM threw us a curveball with similar to yours a Princess ran away from an arranged marriage of which the lone guardsman who followed after her turned out to be the lost heir of a neighboring kingdoms who they were at war with...
