Bourne Identity ** The Books **

Epic Commoner
I know Robert Ludlum wrote them but what I want to know is what people thought of them.

And if I'm not mistaken there were 3 of them

Bourne Identity

Bourne Supremacy

???????????? Don't know the name of the third one.

Thanks for the help.

So far the book suggestions have been pretty good from you guys.

I loved the first movie and am lookinfg forward to the second movie but want to read the books as well.

Borne Ultimatum.

Good series.

First one was the best (in my opinion), mostly cause he had to figure out who he was, and who Carlos was, and why everyone was after him.

Agreed on the first being the best, but the other two are really good also. The whole thing of him figuring himself out is much longer in the book(for obvious reasons) and I just love it so much. Its also a fun read as it keeps going.

Someone help my memory...was it just me, or in the movie, was Carlos not even there?

I read them so long ago... but no, there's no Carlos in the movie.

I'm a big Ludlum fan, I've read almost every one of his books. They tend to blur together after a while, though.

Read all 3. I like the story line... he's not outright taking revenge (stereotype plot), but rather is fighting to be left alone because he wants out (lesser stereotype plot).

A friend once recommended that I read Robert Ludlum's Bourne Trilogy. He said that, since I'm a big fan of Tom Clancy's novels, I'd probably enjoy Ludlam's Bourne novels as well.

I liked the first Bourne Identity movie, and the Bourne Supremecy looks pretty good. I might just have to check out the novels.

I loved the books. However, I was very disappointed in the recent Bourne Identity movie becaues it strayed from the book so much. The movie was great on its own merits, but it shouldn't have been called, IMO, Bourne.

My wife said the exact same thing you did!
She and I loved the books. We listen to them on tape on long drives. Very disappointed in the recent Matt Damon movie as the Bourne story.

I like the movie, but didn't think it did the book justice.

Game ON!

The book and the movie don't really have anything in common besides the character's name and the amnesia angle, and the covert ops / espionage ambiance, so liking the movie doesn't necessarily mean you'll like the book - although personally I think the story in the book is a lot more original and interesting than the one in the movie.

The whole point of the book is that ultimately we find out Bourne is not an assassin and monster - unlike in most stories of this type, where the amnesia mercifully allows a character not to realize what a monster he really is - for a time, until it all catches up to him, etc.

Loved the book loved the movie. There nothing alike and they even admit that in there comentary on the DVD. But oh man the 1st fight scene with the assassin in the borne identity movie ruled. It was a breath of fresh air stepping away from the way overplayed slow motion flying on wires kung fu spectacular every movie with any fight scene added in. It was just two trained guys beating the crap out of each other, best looking fight I'd seen in ages.
