SEX IN GAME BOOKS: It doesn't particularly concern me either way. Unless a game's being specifically marketed to kids, I don't see any reason why it's any problem. SEX IN GAME: Happens fairly frequently, but always off-stage. We usually play fairly normal, healthy characters, but actually describing sex acts would get awfully homoerotic, sitting in the basement, and it's generally never an important part of a story for the amount of time it would take to describe. Necrophilia and Bestiality occur rarely, again off-camera. Though, the idea of having undead necrophilia being an important part of a story has intrigued me, and I may design something around that concept. INTER-SPECIES RELATIONS: Pretty much necessary for the use of Half-Templates, which see a lot of use in my games. Since all sex occurs off-stage, something has to be truly alien to unnerve the people I play with. As soon as I see a Half-Aboleth template, I may try to play one to see who jumps. RAPE: Happens fairly often, off-stage, and is only perpetrated by Evil NPCs. Even when we play evil characters, we try to make them classier than this. TORTURE: Commonplace, both off and on-stage. A Good character won't instantly change alignment for using it, especially in extreme cases, but a pattern of torture will move someone towards evil. Paladins will lose Paladin-hood instantly, however. VIOLENCE AND GORE: Commonplace, and described graphically when it occurs on-stage. Gratuitous, splatterpunk effects are avoided-- six-foot sprays of blood and a trail of severed heads tends to desensitize people, and it's easy to get just ridiculous. Realistic graphic violence can help enhance the sense of the dramatic in combat, though. MUTILATION: Relatively frequent, though Good PCs and NPCs avoid mutilating anyone that's still alive. (See Torture) Even Good PCs will send parts of an evil cult's assassins back in pieces as a warning. CHILD MOLESTATION/ABUSE: Almost never happens, almost always off-stage. Children whose parents are caught beating them usually end up orphans within a few minutes of meeting the PCs.
