I'm trying to think up some items that would have been in the possession of a powerful wizard that has since been banished form the material plane. I want to sprinkle in some items that once belonged to her and specifically one that can bring her back to the material plane. I'm not overly concerned about statting out the items right now, just trying to generate ideas of what they might be. Some ideas I've had so far include... Urwayaavan (Fire Reaper) Sickle +2, Flaming, Unholy Robe of Flames Robe, Fire Shield (1/day), Burning Hands (3/day) Glasses of Comprehension Can read any language or magic while worn. Journal of the Unnamed One Can dominate the reader and is the key to bringing back the spirit of the Unnamed One. If you want the full story for more inspiration, keep reading... Story of the Unnamed One and the Second War of the Heavens by Perryn Tallgrass A thousand years after the Imprisonment, a powerful sorceress arose on Tehluah. Above all else, she craved power and control. Already a necromancer of extraordinary power, she sought a path to immortality and divine power. The Unnamed One searched the ancient texts of both The Way and the Path of Shadow for years and then found a reference to an order of druids that were granted the secret of The Rift of Fire, the prison of the Fiends. Believing that the Fiends would be her path to ultimate power and knowledge, the Unnamed One deceived this order of druids to give her the secrets of the Rift. She then convinced a High Shadowguide and a Master Teacher to open the seal. With the seal broken, the Unnamed One struck down the Shadowguide and Teacher, unlocked The Rift of Fire, and liberated the Fiends. The Fiends, knowing that to reveal themselves too quickly would bring both the Celestials and Shadows upon them, struck a bargain with the Unnamed One. They would grant her with the power of a Fiend, and in return she would destroy Tehluah and remake it in their image. Over the next decade, the Unnamed One used her power to create an army of evil creatures. She took captured goblins and men and twisted them together into a new breed she named orcs. She used her powers of necromancy to create battalions of undead. When she was ready, the Unnamed One marched her army out of the western plains and waged war on the civilized lands. Villages, towns, and tribes fell before her and were added to her Dominion of Fire. The war lasted for 20 years, causing much destruction and death, until the tide was turned by a hobbit, Aldurrus Thrush. Aldurrus, a renowned scout and veteran of many battles of the Second War of the Heavens, made his way into the heart of the enemy and discovered the source of the necromancer’s power. On his return journey from the Dominion of Fire, Aldurrus was injured and stricken with a wasting disease. He survived only long enough to relay this intelligence to his commander. On learning the source of the Unnamed One’s power, leaders of The Way met with leaders of the Path of Shadow. Each side communed with their greater powers for guidance. Once the return of the Fiends was known to each side, the Celestials and Shadows met for the second time. It was decided that each group would grant a single champion on Tehluah with divine power to match the Unnamed One. The Shadows bestowed their dark powers on Armand Petretti while Celylindë Silverleaf was given the power of The Light. Guided by the higher powers, the armies of the civilized kingdoms pushed the Dominion back. At the Battle of Brant Torren, the armies of the flame were defeated. The Unnamed One was cast into The Rift of Fire with the Fiends and The Rift was resealed by the champions of Light and Shadow. To ensure that the seal would never again be broken, Petretti’s essence was placed into a key held by the Church of The Way, and Silverleaf’s essence was transferred to a key held by leaders of the Path of Shadow. Both keys would be required to break the seal and release the Fiends. The name of the necromancer was erased from all records, both divine and secular, to eliminate the chance she would ever be summoned from The Rift.
