Brainstorming: Warlock Pact with Companion?

chronoplasm

First Post
OK, so now I'm thinking it might be cool to have some kind of Warlock pact where you get a supernatural buddy to help you out, similar to the Beast Companion for the Ranger.
Rather than animals though, I want these companions to be monstrous and horrible.
Your pact boon would allow you to heal/buff your companion whenever you kill a cursed enemy.
Various powers would allow you to shoot a blast of elemental energy at an enemy, and then your companion gets to do lay down some hurt as well. I don't think the companions should do much involving melee or teleporting next to targets though, since that would be anti-synergetic with prime shot. Perhaps though you could do things like teleporting next to your companion?

First things first though; I really need some flavor for this. I was thinking of maybe an Abyssal pact, but I know that other people are already doing stuff with that and I don't want to step on their toes. Any suggestions guys?

I would not make this a new pact. I would make it an option for all of the existing pacts. If you sacrifice your Pact Poon and Prime Shot, you get a Pact Servant that behaves more or less like a Ranger's companion beast. The Pact Servant is appropriate to the pact: a pixie for a Fey Pact, an Imp for an Infernal Pact, a minor horror for a Star Pact, etc.

Actually, I like that a lot better!

I'll get started on that. Thanks. :)

This sounds interesting!

I'd make the companions slightly larger than the tiny ones you outline here - all the animal companions are small or medium, and I'd use that. A tiny companion can't make OAs and thus does not help to hold a line.

The Pact Companion class feature is available to any Warlock who wishes to gain a loyal companion. To select this feature, you must give up the Prime Shot class feature and you do not gain the Pact Boon from your Eldritch Pact.
The companion you gain is determined by the pact you choose.
