"Well, you seem to be to be hirelings then. Hired to retrive the amulet. You also seem ignorant of it's nature and what dark shadow it could cast over the world when in the wrong hands. I will educate you then but beforehand I warn you that I will not allow you to leave with the amulet. The amulet of dawn was created long ago by a sect of noble druids as you seem to know. They created the amulet to accieve a number of victories over a plague of demons and devils that threatened to overrun these lands with thier eternal conflicts. It is sufficient to say that the land you are in now was a foothold in this plane of existence regarding this conflict. A breach in this reality allowed both demons and devils to enter this world. The lands where soaked with thier immortal blood as they battled each other tirelessly and the land began to pay the toll. Thier evil blood corrupted the very soil and all that lived here. Luckily that stain has mostly been removed. The first victory that was accieved through the power of the amulet was to contain them. You undoubtly noticed the ancient barrier which is powered by the amulet. The barrier prevents any evil from entering of leaving this region. The next step was to drive back the demons and seal the breach. The druids battled fiercely and they suffered many losses. They where aided in thier battles by the Guardials of Elyssium who also suffered dearly. After finally acchieving victory on those demons who where already present in this plane they sealed the breach with the amulet. The tear could not be undone completely but the amulet prevents it from opening once again. Somewone with the knowledge and power required could open the tear once again if not for the power of the amulet holding it closed. Many years the druids remained vigilant in these lands. Guarding the amulet and keeping watch on the tear. Unfortunately thier numbers lessened as the passing of time made people forget the threat that once was. When but a handfull of old druids remained they decided to set in place a more permanent measure to prevent the threat from returning, one that would outlast thier mortal years. First, they broke te amulet into two peices. They knew that such a powerfull objcet could be used for great evil, for it let's the holder wield power over fiends and devils. Such leverage is dangerous when used for the cause of evil. One piece remained here and the other was hidden in a shrine far away. The magic of the amulet would be weakened slight but this half here would still be suffcient to keep the tear closed and the perimiter intact. Second, they called upon the old alliance with the Guardinals to watch over the two pieces. And so i stand before you, the Guardian of the first half, eternal watching within the ancient shrine once built to summon the very evil that holds it at bay today."
