Joss wouldn't take the chip out unless Spike's going to be hurting humans in the near future.  He's got to be needing the chip out for a reason, I doubt Joss would take it out just to make that one ep.. He could've had the old chip fixed (But then again it gave Buffy a nice little moral dilema).True.. Giles, Anya, Spike, Buffy, Willow, and Andrew have all killed at least 1 human.. Hell, Dawn and Xander are the only ones there who HAVEN'T killed any non-demonic beings as far as I know..  Which ties nicely into their little niche that they got going as the only two 'normal' people on the show, always getting overlooked, etc. (I can't remember which episode it is where Xander talks to Dawn about never being in the spotlight, always beside it, etc, but I liked that little heart-to-heart.)</blockquote>
