Would that be worth it though? See I'm looking at doing a mix of classes while still getting a decent race and I actually confirmed yesterday with the DM that we do -not- get skill points at first level normally, so we have to buy all of our skill points.
You're in a party, and you've got no personal skill dependency. Just make sure someone else plays skill monkey, and you're fine there. Meanwhile, you're getting an arbitrary bonus feat, apparently ignoring requirements, *every level*, while getting a decent hit die. Pick up a ring of evasion (or do you get that by going with Monk's progression?), and you're kinda set.
Although that does bring up a question:
The 50 points for a class progression: Is that for all stuff from the class, or is that for a specific aspect?
While I will agree with you that CHA stacking IS generally easier than the other stats, there's plenty of LA 1/2 races out there that will give a fairly reput able bonus to any of them.
Thoughts?
Yes, if you go something like Phrenic (Expanded Psionic Handbook; LA+2, gives scaling bonuses) or Half-Fey (Fiend Folio of all places, LA+2, same basic stuff plus a bit... but with a Con penalty), for 30 points, you'll need to save up a few levels for class features you'll want. No big deal.
But yes, the party will need a primary caster, a skillmonkey, and a meatshield. The one described above was just for a "very hard to kill" person.
