I spent 197 dollars. Buy.com is generally the lowest price major internet retailer (and I've had great luck with them, and my local gaming store is anything but friendly), but it just killed me when they did away with free shipping on preorders, and caused me to shy away when they did away with free shipping on books altogether. I'll probably find something else by Thursday, too.... Oh, here's what I ordered:

How quickly does buy.com usually ship things out? I've already got these puppies ordered at Amazon, and I don't want to lose my place in the queue... unless, that is, buy.com is pretty quick about delivering books. Then I'd sure like to cancel Amazon and get them from buy.com!

Well... generally, buy.com ships about a week after the book is out. Yes, it takes a bit longer, but saving a few extra bucks lets me buy a small print publisher book (or money towards it) too.

As for the shipping rules... well, they put my order through, and didn't give me a hassle about it. We'll see how it goes tomorrow when it goes through their system, since two of the books are in stock.

I'm fairly positive that shipping is free on books 100% of the time. They started about the same time that Amazon did.

Nope. Buy.com used to offer free shipping on certain books (for a time, every gaming book I ordered from them had free shipping). Not so any more ($2.35 per book).

I used to love buy.com, until they stopped free shipping on pre-orders. I would think encouraging pre-orders would be a good thing (assists with inventory control and helps forecast future sales/revenue)

Alas, I now use Amazon.com for most of my purchases.
