Thought you might find it interesting to know that for a LA+1 buydown, at 9th level, there's about a 900XP difference. What I mean is that if you buy down a LA+1, when you get to 9th and have 36,000XP, your companions who didn't have an LA to buy down will have about 36,900XP. It's not huge by any means, considering it's 10% of the XP to hit 10th, but the self-correcting XP system isn't as quick as you might think.
