Buying equipment for monsters

DMG says barding is the same cost as masterwork, +1000 gp.
Horses are large creatures with abnormal body types, you could call them monsters I suppose.

Any good ideas on how a monster (say a troll or hill giant) can get his hands on appropriate sized magic items? Lets assume evil.

I'd figure Trolls and Hill Giants, as well as any of the decently intellegent, humanoid monsters, can manufacture weapons and gear just as easily as the humanoid races. Especially giants, I'd expect them to have ringing anvils and flaming forges like any human or dwarf.

Trolls and Hill Giants specifically have a low INT, but many other giants have an INT of 10 or much higher. These other giants would be expected to produce goods that would be useful.

Check the SRD on Giants. I could see as a DM developing an industry of Fire or Stone or Frost or Storm Giants that produced equipment for Large sized monstrous humanoids. There's easily a market for that target audience, why not?

I remember a second ed. module that had an underground trade maket run by evil races..duergar, I think....but drow, illithids and other various evil races had stalls there...maybe a troll would get equipment from a place like that.

In another thread people were talking about mercenary dragons. How about a blacksmith dragon? Perhaps a young brass.
