Nice review. If possible for future reviews could you write a brief partagraph on using the supplement without the Scarred Lands (or other campaign place for the campaign specific books). This one seems very oriented to the Scarred Lands, however I imagine it would be useful for anyone that has a country that fits certain criteria in their game. I hope that suggestion made sense.

Two thoughts, one joke and one not:

Joke: You're hardly the most impartial reviewer, dont'cha think? :D

Not Joke: The review certainly tells me what's in the book, and some things you noted...but the review doesn't actually tell me what you're overall impression was. A summary at the end would do wonders for that. Other than you liked the setting of the city generally, and that some of the writing was hard for you to get into, I didn't get a sense of your overall opinion. Of course, I could just be dense. :)

I did come out of it assuming that this was too tightly entwined with the Scarred Lands to be used outside of it. If that's not the case, you might want to clarify that in the beginning.

WizDru: No I'm not always impartial BUT I do try to be. :)

If you want my overall impression, I'll be happy to tell you in my revised/edited post.

And I have to say, there's some things you can use, (mainly from the Appendix) but no, there's not exactly a lot since it IS tied into the Scarred Lands.

Crothy, I'll do that.

Well, I would've thought the 4 out of 5 rating gave the reader a general impression of what he thought overall.

So, does Calastia reinforce the impression given in that story in 'Champions' that Calastia is more renassiance and less medieval in feel ?

Parts of it yes, Sul. If you look at say Vashon or some of the other cities, like Pahrae, you see more elements of a Reninassane nature. While the goverment is still feudal, the nobility and middle class mentality are often more present in the duchies of Arminoff, Jandalore, and some of Chandalvine. There are plenty of rural towns/villages where people still look and work the same as they would in a feudal society, but it's a MUCH more evolved country than many of it's neighbors or other countries for that matter.

Just something to keep in mind when doing reviews. You do a good job, and I hope you keep it doing it.

I try. :) Thanks for telling me that.

Btw Sul, the deal with the Mirror Court, it's not actually a Court at all BUT more of teleconferencing with VR involved. Still it's got it's share of intrigues.
