If you are wondering about Xerxan's actions, his player had to leave early. Thus his character decided to hang back. I had spent some time making him, and I defintely didn't want to lose him to the first real combat. He had used up almost all of his spells on the mutated symbiote, however, and was relatively powerless. The spell he was trying to get the troll with was Spirit Worm, a spell that drains Constitution points.
