Nearly going into bankruptcy with as well-known a property as CoC would seem evidence of poor management to me. Admittedly, I only know what I've read here and there in various industry fora. FYI, CoC6.0 is simply the special edition released a few years ago in a non-limited format. It's not actually a revision of any sort; like the special edition, it's just a new layout. And isn't CDA the first new (in as much as a book with the standard Cthulhu BRP rules, but medieval, is "new") RPG they've done since Nephilim came out in '94? I dunno. I certianly want to give them a chance. Chaosium was my favorite company back in the '80s; never was there a better company with cooler products. I'm not trying to flame them; I sincerely hope that they have all the success in the world. Nonetheless, I don't think there's any denying that they've lost some of their magic. The key creative people have long since left the company; what you have left are some very dedicated CoC fans with only moderate business savvy. New products are sporadic, and reprints are frequent. The release of CoCd20 could have been a huge boon to them, but they pretty much blew it. Pulp Cthulhu (something d20 people were really clamoring for) is vaporware, and general support for CoCd20 has been too little, too late. All in all, it depresses the heck out of me. At least they finally revamped their Web site... :(
