Josh, you may want to check out "The Ressurected" Directed by Dan O'Bannon. Its a pretty good screen version of "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward." Granted it is overacted in some places, and they set it in the 90's rather than the 20's, but it is to this day the most accurate full length, hollywood budget HPL movie ever done, the second to that is Re-animator. In the "Lovecraft inspired style" section I am inclined to agree that Hellboy is so far the best, right infront of "In the Mouth of Madness." I make the distinction because there are really good shorts that do Lovecraft much better justice than anything else. This is interesting because HPLs style seems more suited for the short story than the novel. I wonder if translations of his work are better as short films? Perhaps. In this respect the best one in the "inspired style" is undoubtedly "The Visage." Direct translation award (that I have seen) goes to "The Lonesome Death of Jody Verril" which is an adaptation of "The Color out of Space." Staring none other than Steven King. Ones I have heard that are amazing are "The Music of Eric Zahn," and "Cool Air." The reason I am excited for the upcomming year is that several longer productions will be finished: "Late Bloomer" (references to the shadow out of Insmouth) "The Unnameable" (Randolph carter winds up in one of his stories) "Experiment 17" (Nazis and the necronomicon)(This could also just be a fake trailer, but I hope not the others are real) and of course the subject of this thread "The Call of Cthulhu." Aaron.
