Called Shot Feat

For my Final Fantasy Tactics Campaign setting there are mechanics (a sort of engineer/historical artifact restorer) and one of the primary skills they have is a called leg shot and a called arm shot. They make a normal attack roll with their weapon and if it hits, the leg for instance, it deals normal damage and effects the target as shooting someone in the legs would effect them in the DMG.

Maybe called shot feats or character special abilities would be better than just giving the character making it a -x to their attack roll. I guess it depends on your house rules...

If you're going to use called shots I wouldn't make them feat based, because this is the kind of thing that generates the 'anybody could do it with luck' comment.

However, making feats that improve or negate penalties for specific called shots wouldn't be a bad idea.

Unfortunately WOTC have already pre-empted you; check out the Arterial Strike and Hamstring feats in S&S.

This is another reason I don't like the class splatbooks much. :)
