Hi Guys, I've finally got some players together, and am starting what may be my final 3.x campaign. Please feel free to offer any insights/creative criticism you might have. Setting: Eberron w/ Freeport (south of Zilargo), and Ptolus (in the Demon Wastes) Characters: Shifter Ranger (archery), Gnome Druid, Dwarven Wizard (working towards Loremaster), Half-orc barbarian (NPC/cannon fodder) Major Players: Botherhood of the Yellow Sign (Cult of the Dragon Below), The Dreaming Dark (trying to subvert the Lighthouse to their own ends) The initial arc is going to be a modified version of the Freeport Trilogy. The events of Death in Freeport will proceed more or less as written, but I'm having Terror and Madness follow immediately afterwards, starting with the attack on the Temple of the God of Knowledge from the end of Terror. Lucius will have come across the location of the Jade Serpent in the course of his research - but not been able to tell anyone before he is kidnapped. He will ask the party to bring him to the temple so he can collect his research. As they exit the Brotherhood's temple, Verlaine's guard will already be setting up barricades around the building. He will thank them for their service to Freeport, and send them on their way. As the party arrives at the temple (assuming that they escort Lucius) they will find the attack already under way. Once the battle is finished, Lucius will attempt to retrive his research, and Thuron/K'Sallo and the party will meet. (K'Sallo is very interested in the recovery of the Jade Serpent, enough to disregard the party interfering in temple business.) The plan is to have him hire them to retrieve it, and to send Lucius along with them. Lucius' home will be sacked by Verlaine's men, and if he is not with the PC's he will be kidnapped again. The 'V' dagger will be left behind. I really don't like the Black Dog's Cave section, so I'm going to rewrite that and do an Indiana Jones style dungeon delve on a nearby island. When the party returns to the city, they will be harassed by Verlaine and his guards, before Egil and Thuron arrive to save them. Hopefully by now, the party will be suspicious enough of Verlaine by now that they will want to double check on the Brotherhood Temple. (If they don't then Verlaine will be murdered by Drac, and the NPC will be framed for it.) The next major event is the Ball. This will run pretty much as written - although the PC's may not be invited guests depending on their actions. (If they aren't, perhaps someone will hire them to break into the Sea Lord's Palace during the party.) By now, they will know that something major is going down in the Lighthouse. They may or may not know that Drac is in on it. They will have the means to prevent an extended display of the Yellow Sign over Freeport. And they'll have a grudge. Sorry if things are a little incoherent, I'm typing this away from my notes.
